butch
I have a Korona 7X17 and am in need of an extension rail. I have a rail of another manfacturer that will bolt up but it doesn't have racks and the existing grooves for racks do not match. Any suggestions on someone to modify this rail to work and supply the correct racks or to sell a Korona extension rail.

michael_briggs2
If you frequently check ebay and the standard used LF dealers you might get very lucky. The other approach would be to have a new extension made. What isn't clear is whether this needs custom machining or only custom woodworking. If the metal rack has non-standard dimensions, then custom machining would be needed, which won't be cheap. If the metal rack has standard dimensions and is available off-the-shelf, then making the wooden parts and installing the purchased metal racks (cut down to the desired length) should be within the skills of a custom furniture maker.

Two mail order suppliers of rack are Reid Tool Supply Co. and Small Parts. Perhaps the largest US manufacturer is Boston Gear. You could locate a Boston Gear distributer and take your camera there and see whether they have a sufficiently similar rack. The teeth size, shape and spacing are the critical characteristics. Small differences in width or depth might not matter. If the rack is available, then you could discuss the project with a local custom furniture maker.

Another possibility is S. K. Grimes Co.. They have the skill etc. to make a new rack, if needed.
