Slave flash for digital cameras

Recommended Posts

I have been looking for a slave flash for my contax tvs digital

camera. The metz 34 cs2 looks nice. It is designed for digital

cameras because they sometimes emit pulse flashes to determine white

balance before the exosure shot flash. Does anyone know if the

contax tvs digital camera is one of the digicams that does this, or

does it just emit one flash, allowing me to use any slave flash that

I want?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I can't answer your question about the contax, but I think you would like the Metz 34CS2 in slave mode. Its small, relatively powerful and works very well with my Olympus digital camera, meaning it flashes when the camera does, not before. I think you won't find much that does the job so well in a small package. One thing it does not do well is bounce, cause it has no bounce head. Still, you can put it on a small tripod and aim or hand hold it at the ceiling or wall. I really like the ultra tiny size and the price is not out of reach.

I also don't know how it works for your contax. I use the Metz 34CS2 with my Canon Powershot A20 and it works great. It almost cancels the build-in flash, so no more red-eyes !! As Gerry said, you can also bounce it off the ceiling with no problems at all. I also use this flash on the hotshoe of my EOS500n, but then you lose the possibility for bouncing. Greetings, Kris.
