bill_carson
I have seen some reference to a Nikon Nikkor DX IF-ED 17~55-f.2.8 G IF-ED being available for use with the Nikon D series digital cameras. Does anyone know anything about it? Price? Availability? B&H doesn't seem to have it listed or know about it?? Thanks for any scoop that you may have. Hahahahahahha You'd have to be God to know that. Or a Nikon rep.
bill_carson
Many thanks Spencer but I did locate the Nikon information at the site that you furnished and it left me with the questions that I put forth on the Nikon Forum. I guess this means that it is new, perhaps not fully developed? and thus not available??? Sounds like a lens worth waiting (at least for awile) for? On the other hand, maybe the Nikon information is another way of suggesting that we wait awhile? Thx again, Bill
todd peach seattle, washi
I'll speculate on 'availability' - no sooner than the D2H. From the D2H press release:
The D2H will make its first public appearance at the 9th annual IAAF World Championships in Athletics, at Stade de France, Paris starting August 23, 2003. This worldwide public appearance will be followed shortly by a series of appearances at prolific U.S. sporting events. A schedule will be announced shortly. . . . The D2H will be available in the 4th quarter of 2003.
Nikon has a spotty track record of hitting their 'projected' release dates, so I would automatically add at least one quarter to this, call it 1st quarter 2004.
I would not be at all surprised to see the early versions of the 17-55 not readily available for sale on their own, but instead 'tied' to D2H sales.
Once again, just speculation on my part. ilkka_nissila
Why would these lenses be tied to the D2H? The D1 series & D100 users are equally interested in this lens. Most buyers of the D2H probably have a full range of lenses already.
