mick johnson
I have just been in a very hot hide photographing birds and noticed 3 focus points (including the centre one) dont illuminate any more. They all seem to work ok. They don't work in manual, ecf, one shot, or focus point selection. I have seen this on this forum before I think, but I can't find anything. Cheers, Mick....... robert_davis7
Is CF-10 activated? There's a setting that prevents the focus points from illuminating.
CF-10 - 0 standard mode
CF-10 - 1 No flashing
CF-10 - 2 No flashing after focus has been acheived
CF-10 - 3 Flashes brightly
mick johnson
There are only 3 out of 45points that do not light up. I have tried everything, and still they dont work. I have also pressed the clear button to set all functions to default.
j._d._mcgee
This is an interesting problem indeed. There is a small diode that "projects" these points onto the image you see in the viewfinder. I can't imagine that this little projector would fritz out selectively on just three focusing points, since it seemes like a type of device that would either work or not work at all. But since you are having this problem, that throws my theory out the window. When you say "hot" what do you mean? Heat can do weird things to just about anything. mick johnson
It was just a hot day, and even hotter in a canvas hide in full sun but Iv'e done it many, many times before. Maybe it would be 30'C so I it aint that. Thought it may of cured itself overnight but no. I did'nt realise how much difference it would make with no lights so now know why people complained so much about the D30. Suppose I'll have to take it to my local Canon repair man and get an estimate.
