r_m3
i do alot of travel photography and i am looking for a tripod for my Canon AE-1 Program...its a bit heavier because it has a data back, an MA drive attached to it and sometimes those old FD telephoto lenses can weigh a ton and be hard to balance. But i also need something i can carry without hurting myself. any recommendations?
s2vach
ditch the motor drive MA before mounting it... it weighs a ton. then, you have a light rig that most any cheapo consumer tripod can handle for your purposes. but if you want a good tripod for a bargain check the tiltall model ST01 out... they can handle the camera + MA no prob, but its kinda larger than a small, cheap travel tripod is. i bought one though and its actually really nice and sturdy. it handles any 35mm gear i have + my Mamiya C33 TLR with no problems. here's a link to it: tiltall tripod
r_m3
shopping for a tripod is infinitely more disturbing and confusing than buying the camera itself...you wont know until well into its use whether it was the right choice or not. Thanks for your advice. I am going to start trying equipment out at B+H this weekend.
