paulr
Stunning portrait Ralph. I like the creamy texture in the skin tones. If I may ask, what did you use to scan this?
ralph_barker
Thanks, Paul. I'm using an Epson 3200 and the SilverFast Photoshop plug-in. I usually prefer to scan the 35mm work from actual silver prints, but did this one from the neg.
sandy.
Oh Ralph, how are we supposed to response?
ralph_barker
Sandy - please feel free to post a B&W "sorta formal" portrait. Extra points for pretty girls, of course. (Pardon my laziness in abbreviating "Words/No Words" to "W/NW".) ;-)
sandy.
Ok, I'll give it a try...but don't laugh!<div></div>

robert_byrd1
Quite good, Sandy: lovely tones. What kind of scanner do YOU use? (I'm shopping for a good one.)
sandy.
Robert, my scanner is a CanoScan FS 4000 US. ;-)
wingell
Absolutely gorgeous images. If I didn't think I needed a scanner upgade before (who am I kidding?), I certainly do now.

paulr
Certainly dispells some of the negative press about the 75mm 'Lux. Between Marc Williams and Ralph, they produce remarkable work with the lens.

skeeter
i think the main "negative press" issue has to do with the extremely shallow depth of field when wide open. this is not a probem of course with it stopped down to typical flash-illuminated studio work. just like the noctilux, the shallow dof can be introduced for effect if desired. paulr
Tom, Maybe we should start a 75 'lux owners club. The lens is new to me, or I am new to the lens. DOF, what can one expect from a 1.4 lens? I still need to use the lens for a few more months. So far so good though.
ralph_barker
Reina - I think she qualifies as "precious". Tom - the boy and the cat are obviously kindred spirits - great synchronized expressions. You also "nailed it" re the 75mm 'Lux - I don't shoot it wide open very often. Dixon is the master in that realm, I believe.
