s._misra
Hi. I noticed today that my Canon 400 5.6L lens has a broken (actually, extremely loose) focusing ring. Normally, when I turn the focusing ring, the lens does not focus. I am able to make the lens focus by pinching down with significant pressure on the rotating barrel and turning as normal. But this solution is cumbersome, and works sporadically. Has anyone else had this problem? Any idea what could have caused it? Is this something I can fix myself (e.g., by tightening a screw)? If not, how much canon charges to have the problem fixed?

Why don't you go to your nearest Canon lab, hand over the lens and ask them ? What we can tell you will only be a rough estimation. Happy shooting , Yakim.
