arash_keshmirian1
I've recently started working with my 1Ds, and have strange blotches that occur consistently through my images, even with different lenses... My first suspicion was CCD dust, but the blotches seem to focus/defocus depending on the aperture [crisper with smaller apertures]... I would think CCD dust would remain the same... Have a look at some of these comparisons.

http://www.akgfx.com/dust/

Any ideas on what I need to try to clean / have cleaned? mark u
Sensor dust is to blame. It shows up at small apertures more than at wide ones.
quentin_smith
there was a great article by bob on cleaning the sensor. try and search for it. it was very helpful.dust visibility on the sensor will vary with the aperture.
mark u
The reason dust shows up more at high f stops is that the light focussed on a particular spot on the sensor comes from a much narrower cone than when the lens is wide open, so it forms a sharper shadow. arash_keshmirian1
Thanks for everyone's help! The dust chunks seem to be fairly large, I'm going to try out the blower out... if that deosn't work I guess I'll wait until the dust becomes a serious issue and visit a service center... What's the procedure like with them?
