rolpahof leikonblad
I have a color photo that I want to make it look like an old black and white one. How can I do it with Photoshop?
john_corb
first convert to greyscale, then convert to duotone (ps won't let you go direct from rgb to duotone) in the duotone menu select "load...", and browse to the photoshop "presets/ duotones/tritones/tritones process/" subdirectory, choose one of the sepia tritones, i suggest try "bmy sepia 4" first tick/untick the preview box to see the effect of applying the tone there are *lots* of preconfigured duo/tri/quadtones to choose from, if you cannot find the exact effect you want then you can modify an existing one, or you can make your own from scratch
rolpahof leikonblad
I got it and am now experimenting. Thanks a LOT!
Sanford
Another way is to desaturate color by color giving yourself the option of lightening or darkening various areas of the photo, then apply a red or yellow or both cast and use "hue" to control the shade.<div></div>
randy_tamayo
Sepia i think they call it. In photoshop open your color image create a copy, from the layers tab, click and drag the background image to the New Layer icon, Select Backgound copy - goto: Image > Adjustmets > Desaturate OR; Image > Mode > Grayscale click OK then go back to RGB Image > Mode > RGB Go to Image > Adjustments > Variations... the current pick usually is good enough, you can play by adding some more the colors though.
