alan_simon
Dear Forum Readers: In the past, you have helped me choose a 28mm 'cron rather than a Tri Elmar and a second body to go with my .85 MP (I chose the .58). Well, I just returned from 15 glorious days in Italy (albeit HOT) and I have some new images. I haven't used b&w for years and I'd love your opinions. This trip, my wife did the travel-bit, very successfully with her Contax NX and a 28-80 zoom, while I had my two cameras-one with the 28mm 'cron and the other with a 50mm 'lux-both loaded with Ilford's Delta 400-shot at ISO 250. I'm posting the results. Any and all suggestions are welcomed. Al<div></div>
andrew_lee2
Pretty good, but I don't see anything that separates it from the rest of the pack. Your pictures numbers one and three don't really do it for me.
george_l._doolittle
Thanks, Alan. I'm inspired. We leave for Italy Tuesday but with a TriElmar, which has served me well on recent trips to Viet Nam, Antarctica, Canada and Croatia. I subscribe to your style, i.e. people photography and will try to carry on in that vain. Enjoyed your pix!
markci
Is there some reason you couldn't have posted these all in one thread?
h._p.
Thanks for sharing your holiday pictures with us but don't you have any good ones? I find all of these crowded and cluttered with no real point of focus. They probably remind you of people, places and times you experienced but they don't communicate anything to me. I'm sure you must have better ones in your files.

fotografz
Alan, given your objective to go beyond "travel" shots, perhaps you need to edit my friend, edit. Also, it may help to try shooting at different levels (like lower) and distances (like closer). As they say..."zoom with your feet. Boom with your knees." Your exposures are good, but try to connect with the subject, the surroundings, or both. Your objective is not an easy one. It takes practice, patience and preseverance to go beyond the surface of what is visable to anyone who would be in the same place at the same time. leanne_newton
This is my least favourite , because of the framing. I like the others very much.
leanne_newton
Referring to Alan`s pics, of course.
