ken_linton
Which lens hood and filters should I use with the Schneider 180mm f/2.8? Does the Rollei Compendium shade have a adapter for this lens?
steve2k
The 180 f/2.8 takes 95 mm filters. Scneider makes a screw-in lens hood that fits this lens (as well as the 100 f/2.0). I don't believe the Rollei Compendium hood fits since it's a Bay 60 mount(IIRC), so some vignetting likely would occur. Of course, I'm only speculating, since I don't own the compendium hood. Good luck, steve
anthony_lee4
The hood made by Rollei is a Bayonet mount type, not a screw in hood type. This is the only hood that fit apart from those aftermarket one. The lens take 95mm filter from all major makes such as B+W or Contax.
thomas_diekwisch1
This is actually a very good question. The original Rollei hood for its $200 tag is heavy, clumsy, and inefficient. It is too short! The Heliopan 95mm hoods are much better. A little cheaper, a little longer, less heavy, and better in terms of results. It gets rid of stray light better since it's narrower. Mike in LA has them.
thomas_diekwisch1
Now I remember the name of Mike's shop (I am out of town right now): Ctrades.com. Anyway, the hood is well worth it since the 180 is very sensitive to stray light and it almost takes the Heliopan hood to take advantage of this extraordinary lens. cameron_neilson
I was hooked on the Lee filter system years ago. Bad advice or not I still use it and it works with an adapter ring from Lee perfectly. You might check it out for your 180 f/2.8 lens. I recently purchased the lens and am very pleased with the results of the lens and how the hood works. Cameron
