jeff_wolfram
I am trying to find info on the grid screen for the 1N. Where could I find one for sale? What is it's model number or name? Information about it's installation? Went to the local camera shop and got the that's impossible speel, cause the cameras outdated. Any advice, information, or links are greatly appreciated. thanks jeff
ivanskavinsky
B&H have them listed here
The EOS 1n screens are the same fit as the ones for the: EOS 3, EOS 1v, EOS 1D etc.
I use the same one for landscapes as I seem completely unable to stand up straight! That or the whole planet is a bit skewiff ;-)
jeff_wolfram
Thanks so much. You gotta love camera store pros. How hard was it to install and does it come wih good directions? thanks jeff
bill_goldman
The screen with grid lines that you want is the Ec-D. The same screens fit the EOS-1, -1N and -1v and are available at the larger camera stores and on-line vendors such as B&H and Adorama. Each new screen comes with a plastic tweezer-like tool to facilitate removal and intallation.
bill_goldman
As far as removal and installation go, the focusing screen is held in a thin metal frame with a latch. This is accessable through the lens mount. Releasing the latch causes the frame (with screen) to drop down short of the mirror. The tool allows you to easily grab the tab on the screen and lift it out. The reverse procedure installs the new screen.
jim_simon3
In the EOS 3 Manual (which I just happen to be reading) it says that CF-0 has to be set to 1 to use the Ec-D. You may want to connect with someone who has a manual for the 1N to see what you need to do make sure the "standard exposure standard [sic]suits the focusing screen"
david arnold eugene, oreg
I use the grid screen in my 1n and have had no problems with it. Exposure is spot on--more accurate than my A2, which has the standard screen. Unless I missed it, there's nothing in the manual about grid screen issues, and none of the custom functions relates to it.
ivanskavinsky
Glad to be of service Jeff. With the 1n, it doesn't require any exposure compensation. Fitting it is the proverbial piece of p***, just handle it with great care. All the best.
brambor
About 10 years ago (or more) I bought grid screen for EOS650 and it came with a tool that helps remove and install the screen without having to stick your fingers in.
