marker
I cannot place the 77mm cap I have inside the shade. What are owners of 80-200/2,8 doing with lens cap when the shade in on?
chrislong
I'm using a protective filter on the front of the lens. This sticks out just enough that I can get the lens cap on and off with the hood in place. That's the main reason I'm actually using the filter. If you don't want the filter there, you could use an empty filter ring to do the same thing. I've been trying to find one of those nice Tamron lens caps with the center sqeeze tabs, but havn't had any luck yet. I guess all the new Nikon lenses are coming with that style of cap. Rick Waller
Have a look at the new Nikon lens cap design for the new 70-200/2.8 VR lens and your troubles will be over. It is a pinch model, similar to the Tamron kind and it is terrific. See if they are available individually - otherwise it will cost you about $1500 to buy the lens cap. ilkka_nissila
I just take the hood off, reverse it and put the cap on.
