Question about rear shutter curtains in a Hasselblad 500C

Hi, I have received an old Hasselblad 500C body and I have some

questions about it:

When I press the shutter, both rear curtains open but they are not

completely parallel. The upper one in falling a little. When I look

through the back it seems that the curtain does not interfere the

light but it is very near to interfere. Is this normal?.

Also, when I use the pre-release, I have to move a little the advance

knob in order the pre-release to work. Is this a malfunction?

Sorry for these simple questions, but I am new to the Hasselblad

world, so any advice will be of great help.

Thanks in advance and kind regards.

Your 500C needs some work. The top door should be tucked up to the

mirror during exposure. While it may not interfere with the exposure now, there is a

good chance it will in the future.

Your other problem is a maintainance issue as well. It sounds as if the tolerances in

the mechanism are no longer overlapping. It's typically called a CLA. Clean, lube and

adjust. Nothing serious, just standard, predictable stuff.
