Jochen_S Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 I happen to own a Z70 without manual, which I got used from a friend who switched to Nikon. A repairshop told me the AFmotor is broken down. Fixing would be about 170 Euro (nearly US$). So my questions are how much was this camera new? Is there something similar now? Was the AF as bad as in my SFXn? Has it got TTL flash? - Excuse me I'm no rookie, I just wasn't interested in new Pentax stuff for a couple of years. Thanks in advance,
stemked Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 Hi Jochen. It's a sad world we live in where it's cheaper to throw away than to get something fixed, but I'm afraid its true. The US version of your camera is the PZ-70, and looking on ebay for nice ones it's easy to see that they are generally offered and sold under $100. The newest camera that is a Z70 'like' camera would be the recently discontinued ZX-7 (MZ-7 in Europe). It's smaller, has an IR remote, is faster focusing and moter speed and can likely be purchased almost new (in the US) for about what what it would take to fix your camera. You can, of course, download the manual (www.pentax.com-go to USA and download from their literature). Therefore if you have some emotional attachment to it there maybe reason to get it fixed. Otherwise....
