Ken Katz Posted November 6 Posted November 6 (edited) Received and filled out a user survey sent by OM Systems today, asking user's thoughts on the current state of OM System. Questions were obviously crafted by their marketing department, not photographers or company engineers, still I did my best to answer honestly, given that I have bought 4 bodies and 8 lenses, plus a flash in the last 13 years. The final question was if I would recommend OM Systems to photographers, with a 0 to 10 scale. Sadly, and likely the first time I have ever found the need to do so on any manufactures survey, I gave OM Systems a zero recommendation. The survey didn't ask why, but if they did I would have stated that at this time, OM Systems and M43, IMHO, are probably the least likely of any any current mirrorless system to survive long term (even short term is in doubt). This is based on the deterioration of their market share and the lack of any significant product development by OM Systems since they acquired Olympus Cameras. OM has only developed cameras and lenses that were already in the Olympus pipeline when acquired, or slightly retooled new camera bodies previously developed by Olympus, or a lens which is a rebadged Sigma, sold at a much higher price tag than what the Sigma sells that lens for in other mounts. Sanford Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I'd certainty consider a used OM to go with my Panasonics. Price & condition.
Karim Ghantous Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Their biggest mistake was not asking you why! Listening is so important. More than the product itself.
