danrobb
Hi guys. I live in Canada but I am plagued by high prices. What I have done in the past is buy from US sites (adorama and B/H have the best prices) and get them shipping to my uncle. He'll usually ship the stuff to me after that. I was wondering if I could cut out the middle man though. Anybody have any reasonably cheap Canadian retailers? Preferrably websites? I can travel within southern Ontario though too. continuity
You mean other than henrys.com or vistek.ca? You can try cameracanada.com as well. But, basically they're all about the same price -- expensive. I just wish B&H/Adorama didn't charge $30+ USD to ship some film...
jimvanson
I dug this up earlier today...have not looked at it...Camera Canada. If your interested in shops out west, let me know as there are several with sites.
the_macman
The prices seem to me as ridiculously inflated as in any Canadian store. Canon EF 70-200/4 $1200 CAN is under $600 US ($827 US) in the US. Is the canadian warranty worth 350 ? I believe the calculation applies to all equipment. Stick with B&H... even if they ship directly to you it should be way cheaper than any Canadian store.
shaun westlake
Macman See this thread re warranty. With any Canon equipment I have bought (lens / bodies) the warranty is identical reqardless of what side of the border . http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=005u02&unified_p=
duane_kucheran
Interpro photo in Vancouver often has good deals. I bought a Canon angle finder from them that was US$20 less than the B&H price. Their website is www.interprophoto.com but it's not great. I don't believe the prices have been updated for a while and so you have to contact them for the current prices & availability. Cheers,
bj_bignell
Dan,
If you have a car and can travel, just do a border run for a duty-free liquor, and pick up some camera gear on your way. :-)

If that doesn't interest you:
- McBain Camera in Edmonton (http://www.mcbaincamera.com) has good shipping rates and fair prices.
- The Camera Store in Calgary (http://www.thecamerastore.com) usually has lower prices than McBain.
- London Drugs usually has a good camera department, and their prices (especially sale prices) are usually competitive. Some locations also deal used gear.

If you eventually find a good source, post it here so we all know!
25asa
Actually I find London Drugs "sale" prices to be the same as the regular price in many camera stores. I dont find their pricing cheap, other then on used equipment. I go to several places in Van. Kerrisdale Cameras (they have a website too), Lens and Shutter, Beau Photo, and Leos Cameras. They all have decent pricing, but Leos sometimes is a bit cheaper then the rest. For film pricing I find Kerrisdale Cameras to be the cheapest. Beau and Leos are independants so they carry more stuff that the chain ones dont.
erick_lamontagne
Price on Nikon equipment is often the same or cheaper in Montreal shop than B&H (after dollar conversion). Canon might be a little more expensive. The only shop with decent website is Simon's Cameras. I never shop there though. I usually shop (walk in) at Photo Service or at LL Lozeau.
david_sereda
Hi Dan- If you are open to some good deals on used equipment, try: www.vintagevisuals.com Other than that, I'll put in another plug for McBain Camera.
leica ron
For online shopping ... www.harrysproshop.com in Toronto, excellent service ... I second The Camera Store in Calgary and also 8 Elm in Toronto. If you must go to Henry's go to the Church and Queen store in downtown Toronto.
