The Canon 5200 f/14 reflex lens! (along with the 800 f/3.8 and 2000

f/11) I stumbled upon this the other day and didn't see any mention

of this beast in the archives, so I thought I'd post it here for you

Canon users' amusement. Ever seen one in person or seen pictures

from it? What was it used for?? It's easy to miss the camera in

the picture. And at 220 lbs. I'd make sure I had a strong camera

strap :-)
Thang, perhaps you would prefer Nikon's more modest offering, the 1200-1700mm f/5.6-8 zoom (perhaps with a TC).
(The one in the top left, dwarfing the 500 f/4 next to it)
Good catch! I visited your source page, and the person who posted the picture also says:

<I have a booklet of the Canon mirror lenses dated May 1965. The title explains it all: Canon Mirror lenses, TV-800mm 1:3.8 , TV-2000mm 1:11 and TV-5200mm 1:14. Subtitle is World's Brightest Lens Widest Mobility Longest Focal Distance.>

Um, "Widest Mobility"?!

Anyway, sounds as though it was a television lens.

Well, the "TV" in the model number may give a clue to its use. Though I am sure many bird photographers wish it came with an EOS mount! ;-)

Ever seen the lenses they use to show you the images of a Space Shuttle launch? There's the zoom some people in this thread have been looking for! :)
