francis_kelly
Searching for specific suggestions on shooting locations in October around the Bishop area. Details appreciated. Also, I found and lost a web site about a workshop in mid October in Bishop, anyone have a link for this? Thanks, Tom
sjhein
Francis, I think you probably had run across Michael Reichmann's Luminous Landscape web site: http://www.luminous-landscape.com He is running a fall photography workshop out of Bishop. Unfortunately, I think it is full.
lightcraftsman
Check out the Fall Color in California web site.
Finding good places around Bishop is easy. Just pick a road heading toward the Sierra Nevada and go for it. There aren't that many to choose from anyway.
If you have time you owe it to yourself to go to the Bristlecone Pine National Forest while you're in the area. There aren't any leaves changing colors up there, but the light is fantastic that time of year, and you can see the Eastern Sierra from the ridge tops. This would be a good way to scout for color while taking photos of the ancient trees.
garrett_adams
In Bishop take highway 168 west to Lake Sabrina and South Lake. Two years ago I was there in early November and the lakes had just received a nice dusting of early snow the preceeding night.
tan
Francis Check out Carol Leigh's great web site: http://www.calphoto.com/ You will find some useful information if you look up the "Fall Foliage Hotsheet" and you will get periodical reports of the Fall color situation throughout California, as Fall approaches. Happing shooting! Bobby
