panya w.
Does anyone know the different between SD8 and SD8A battery pack? Thanks!
todd peach seattle, washi
Somebody probably knows this for sure, but I think the 'A' has the slightly modified plug shape to work with the later versions of SB-28 'and on' flashes. My understanding is that the SB-28 did not pass the Euro safety standards (something about unsafe voltage accessible at front plug) until it was redesigned. shoots
I have the SD8A it works with the SB-11, 20, 22,24,25,26,27,28 and the SB-28DX for the digital SLRs. That is the difference the SD8A works with the SB-28DX were the SD8A would not.
peter_li4
I have the SD-8, this fits on my old SD-26 flash, but not my new SD-800 flash, the SD-26 had a 3 prong rectangular plug, whereas the SD-800 only accepts a new 3 rounded plug. So you need to get the SD-8A instead. The SD-800 comes with an 5th cell attachment so reduces the need to buy a new SD-8 unless you have a large flash photo session. It's also convenient as you can use 5x 1.2v rechargable cells, which is what I plan to do.
