IMHO if the lens is clear after this many years, it should remain so. I feel a lot depends on the environment the lens is used and stored in. If you are in a humid area, check the lens periodically (years).

Shine a penlight from the *rear* and observe the inside of the front element from the front at an angle. I've seen a lot of these lenses where the trouble isn't the rear element but the inside of the front. However that's an easy DIY though I'm sure the cost of the front element isn't cheap.
