wimswyzen
Any experiences with the Tamron macro lens on a 10D? I almost decided on the Canon 100/2.8, then i saw this lens. At almost half the price of the Canon 180mm I wonder whether this is a good alternative taking into account the positive feedback I rad also on the Tamron 90mm macroThanks for your advise,Wim
peter_foiles2
I had the opportunity to try both this lens and the 28-75/2.8 by Tamron on a one day outing sponsored by my local camera store and Tamron. I ended up buying both lenses for use on my 10D and D60. The lens is lighter and more compact than the Canon version but the results are excellant just the same. I have no hesitation in recommending either lens.
wimswyzen
Peter, what kind of macro shooting do you do with the 100 and the 180. Isn`t the 180mm too long on a 10D(1.6x) for Macro? What about working distance?
vsevolod_krishchenko
I shoot small insects with Sigma 180/3.5 and EOS D30 and found 180mm working distance quite useful. It's possible to use 550EX with long macro lens but harsh shadows can appear.
