I am planning to order the new Canon 1D III and I want to buy robust and fast cards Sandisk Extreme III 2GB SD ? or anything better than Scandisk ? thank you
terry_smith2
Just go to Wal-Mart or where ever and buy one of each for your own test when your new body arrives. Make sure you get the same brand, series and capacity. The best part is tha you don't have to throw away the loser. It will still be capable. bluphoto
Please don't order the 1DIII if you don't know the difference between CF & SD - SD is about 1/4 the size and will not fit. Speed doesn't come into it. This would be like learning to drive in a Bentley. cheers, Guy
bluphoto
Apologies Erik, Just checked your profile - You can drive, but the SD is still 1/4 the size of the CF.
sam_thompson2
The fastest is the Sandisk Extreme IV. You have to have Firewire on your computer and a special reader to take advantage of its high speed. http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Default.aspx?CatID=1191 I would go SD simply because it's smaller and SD has almost universal acceptance among smaller digi cams and other devices. Also note the difference between SD and SDHC, some devices cannot read SDHC cards.
ymages
thank youi have never tried a SD , just CF or microdrivei'll go for SD or SDHC
ci_p
You want both SD and CF. This gives you the capability to mirror writes and switch from one card to the other quickly without opening the camera (like when it is raining). You *may* find Extreme IV CF is faster in the camera.
ymages
yes I'll keep of course a few CF : this mirror write seem very usefull thanks a lot to every body no problem Guy Carnegie :-)
m_barbu1
or anything better than Scandisk ?
I would stay away from Scandisk. ;-) Get a couple Sandisk Extreme IV cards (one of each format). The 4 GB SD is actually 4GB SDHC, so you'll definitely want to be sure the Mark III is compatible.
