artdds
Hi,I just bought the canon 70-200mm IS and I am not sure if it is defective or not. The zoom ring when turned does not feel totally smooth. It sort of rachets. A very very slight rubbery type ratcheting. Can anyone who has this lens let me know if this is normal?Any help woudl be appreicated. Thanks,Art
mark cohran
Mine certainly doesn't do that.
chip
Mine doesn't ratchet but it's not smooth like my old non IS EF 70-200 2.8L was. There is a slight courseness to the zoom ring movement. HTH
artdds
It is not actaully a ratcheting...but it is a coarseness...thanks for your responses...i will try to find a store sample to compare. art
martin_k1
Mine is not as smooth as the 'cheap' 28-105 I own. It is kind of a rough movement. I guess it is because the zoom ring is much better sealed. I do not worry about it.
