Jerry Collier
I have acquired an old Brownie #2 camera that has a missing film advance number Orange window. Does anyone know of a replacement piece to close the viewing hole. This was the first type of camera that I started my photographic love. glen_h
Paper might be better now, so it might work fine without one. You could put a flap made of some plastic, maybe electrical tape, that you lift when winding. You can find red plastic material, but not so obvious how you get it in. This one: https://collectiblend.com/Cameras/search.php?param=brownie+2 doesn't go back to 1889, but only to 1901. I have a brown (actually) Brownie 2 model F, which I think is a lot later. I had VPL120 in it a few years ago. -- glen
Rick_van_Nooij
If you're shooting panchromatic film, the color of the replacement window isn't going to matter much, except for reducing the intensity of the light hitting the backing paper a little. It is best to keep the window out of direct (sun) light and to keep it covered up except for winding on the film to the next frame number. (I use electrical tape to cover the window)
c_watson1
Too bad the OP was impolite enough never to thank answer posts. Love those drive-by posts. In case they ever show up again... http://www.brownie-camera.com/53.shtml
