peter_bongard
Hi again!I'm currently looking at the Canon 80-200/2.8 L (without USM) or the Sigma 70-200/2.8 HSM. Since I read from several posts that the sigmas's optical qualiti is almost equal to the 80-200, I wonder which of those lenses has the faster AF-Speed?RegardsPeter
primoz
Based on quite few tests on web and a lot of talking with friends who have both of lenses (Canon 70-200/2.8 and Sigma 70-200/2.8 HSM) you can't really see difference between those two lenses, except in weight of your wallet after you buy it :) It was enough for me that I ordered Sigma and now I'm waiting for it to finally come :)<br>But I don't know anyone with Canon 80-200/2.8 lens so I can't tell how is Sigma compared to that one. yakim_peled1
I guess (never used any of them) that in this regard the Sigma will have the upper hand. However, because of the fact that Sigma has so many compatibility problems with EOS bodies, I suspect that - after weighing all factors - the Canon will eventually turn out to be a better buy. Happy shooting ,Yakim.
ben_rubinstein___mancheste
photodo seems to think that the 80-200 is sharper even than it's sucessor the 70-200 and quite a bit more than the sigma. All things being equal, the sigma with HSM motor is probably faster.
peter_bongard
I now own a Tokina AT-X 80-200 Pro 2.8. Will there be a noticeable difference regarding AF-speed and visual quality (sharpness etc) between the sigma and the tokina? Or should I make the "big step" to the Canon 70-200,2.8L?
