ricardo_villagran
Hi guys, I just want to ask the owners of these little cameras what do they do since mercury batteries are no longer available... any alternatives? thanks! Ricardo.
awahlster
I bought a hand full of 1.35V mercury cells from px625.com for $8.00 ea. Then stuck new batteries in the three Canonets I have and put the rest in the fridge so I'm covered for about the next Five or six years. Go take a look Mark W. steven_clark
I have a little zinc-air that's actually a slightly smaller battery with an adapter ring on it. I think zinc-air is one of the only ways to get the 1.35 voltage without mercury.

tim_hicks
I have got acceptably good results with colour negative film with the silver oxide 1.5 volt PX625s in a QL17 and a GIII QL17. But now I have started using 7za hearing aid batteries instead. These are Zinc air type and similar size and thickness to the PX625 but with no rim around the edge. They are 1.4 volt and are much cheaper than the Wein cell zinc air cells that are sold as mercury replacements. They fit most px625 battery compartments but I guess they might not fit every compartment. I have a hunch the Wein cell is just a 7za with a metal ring added around the rim to make it the same shape as the
