EOS 10D ERROR MESSAGE 05 - E05

I just got the camera on Friday. Everything seems to be working fine,

but everytime I turn the camera on I get error message E05 on the LCD

panel. In the instruction manual error 05 refers to "something

obstructing the built in pop up flash operation", but in reality

nothing was obstructing the pop up flash when I turn on the camera.

My firmware version is 1.0.0. I was wondering if anyone else out

there is experiencing the same problem, or knows how to resolve it?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Please email me at

All EOS 10D display the designation "EOS" on the LCD during boot. Ya know, like your computer displays Mac OS or whatever during boot. Look at it closely. It is "EOS" not Err 5.

Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. Other times I can barely see.

The error EO5 is due to obstruction in path of the flash. I wonder

this happens when you are wearing a cap. The visor of the cap obstructs the opening of the fill flash. It happens to me all the

time when I am wearing a cap. Otherwise you have mechanical

obstruction.

Yes, the EOS 10D is quite prone to this type of error. To those of you who are continually getting this error message upon switching on your camera, I would be willing to purchase your defective cameras. Of course, since they are both used and defective, I can only pay about US$1,000.00 per camera. Email me for details.

Come you guys, don't tease him!

All error message numbers have the prefix "Err," e.g., Err04, Err05, etc. "EOS" is not an error message and "EO5" doesn't exist. Like "Sure Shot" or "Elf," EOS is merely the camera line designation.

"If you're not going to read the owner's manual, then you're going to get a good teasing..."

Man, you'll be extremely busy writing comments then...I don't think hardly anyone reads the manual!

I love my EO5 error message. It gives me that warm feeling all over. I echo Alans comments except I'll beat his offer and give you $1000.50 for taking those defective pieces of crap off your hands.
