lee_brand
Never heard of it. But I have come accross many FD mount lenses that I have never heard of before or again for that matter. Old FD Sigma/Tokina/Tamron, in general, compare very well with the new stuff - less the AF of course. Some of the old 3rd party stuff was legendary - Vivitar Series 1. Other 3rd party lenses were cr@p, as happens today. It is generally safe to stay with the old Tokina, Cosina, Tamron etc but there are unfortunatly some notable exeptions to this as hinted at previously. Best bet is to hunt down Canon lenses. Best FD 35-70 or 105 (or thereabouts) is most likely a Canon. I have not used one though. I use an old Tokina which I am fairly happy with. tom_griffin
As far as your first question goes, I've never heard of that lens. Question #2 are you asking about the mounts or the lens? Question #3. The Canon 35-105mm f/3.5 FD is a great lens. Versatile and sharp. I bought mine used in excellent, if not like new, condition for around $350 back in 1999. alan_swartz
1. I've seen them up for auction, but know nothing about them. 2. In general, most people seem to say that the fixed-focal-length FD lenses are virtually indistinguishable from EOS lenses, so that would seem to say that they're probably equal to or better than new 3rd-party lenses. Some will say that the FD zooms don't stack up to modern designs. For my eyes, I can't imagine a lens series that would be significantly better than the FD. It is a fact that 3rd-party lenses vary tremendously in quality. 3. I've had both. I think the greater zoom range of the 35-105 makes it the sure winner. The 35-105/3.5 two-touch is a fine lens. I have no experience with the later 35-105/3.5-4.5 one-touch, but people seem to say that it is close in quality.
