NullMcNullkins
The other day I was looking at both an F100 and an N90s with Quantaray (Sigma) 28-90mm zooms on them. The lenses were marked as having a maximum aperture of f/3.5, but both cameras refused to read the lenses as having larger apertures than f/5.0. Later on that day, while looking at an N60 with a similar Sigma lens mounted, it exhibited the same behavior. Were the lenses reading effective apertures (such as what happens with macro lenses), or is there a glitch between the communications of the lens and camera? jimstrutz
This lens only has an f/3.5 aperture at 28mm. If you zoom it out much from that the max aperture shrinks rapidly to as small as f/5.6. Were you checking the aperture at 28mm zoom setting? If so, it sounds like a problem.
arnabdas
And even at 28mm I think it is 4.5 at closest focus ...
NullMcNullkins
It was reading f/5.0 at the 28mm setting, which is what I thought was strange, when the lens clearly said f/3.5. I tried a few different distances to focus on, and they all read the same.
