Most Gepe mounts for 645 film have very sharp metal edges that will likely

damage your slides. The glass mounts might be acceptable if your only aim

is to project the slides.

If you are looking for a slide mount that is safe and suitable for storage,

take a look at these: http://http://www.inkjetart.com/sp/35wxb.html

Cliff that is utter nonsense.

Film lies on top of the metal mask in a Gepe mount and is held in position by putting the

edges of the film under the slots on the top and bottom of the mask.

In the more than 20 years that I have sold and used Gepe mounts we have never, repeat N

E V E R had a single report of any size or type of Gepe mount ever, R E P E A T NEVER

having damaged or scratched or in any way effected the condition of a slide that was in it.

The number of universites, museums, galleries and professionals that use Gepe mounts to

archive their work only further attests to the protection a Gepe mount offers.

If you, or anyone else, has an example of the mask having damaged your film while

mounting film properly in the mount we welcome your sending it to us, or to any of the

other Gepe distributors worldwide.

Lastly are your mounts sold in the UK as the poster asked?

Sorry, Bob, but I'm afraid it's not "utter nonsense", but I guess I wouldn't expect you to say otherwise, since you're just here trying to promote another one of your products.

The extremely sharp metal edges of the Gepe 645 mounts I've used do contact the film, and can easily scratch it if you ever try remove the film from the mount.

The Bair mounts are sold by mail order, so they are available anywhere that has mail service.

Greg
If you are looking for simple black card mounts, I can recommend the Preview Masks made by DW Viewpacks. I use this system myself and it is simply the most versatile range I have ever seen. All the masks are basically the same size but come with a comprehensive range of aperture sizes. So that for instance you could display 35mm, 24x56mm, 24x65mm, 6x45cm, 6x6cm and 6x7cm all in the same 10 pocket or 8 pocket hanging file or ringbinder pages. They also come with a full range of accessories
They can be contacted at
DW viewpacks Ltd.
Unit 7/8 Peverel Drive
Granby
Milton Keynes
Mk1 1NL
Tel: 01908 642323
Hope this helps.
www.keithlaban.co.uk

"and can easily scratch it if you ever try remove the film from the mount."

Again Cliff, UTTER NONSENSE.

The film is held in the mount by slipping the edges (not image area) under the slots.

To remove the film you slip the edges out of the slots. At no time does the image area

come in contact with the edges.

Hoe in the world did you mount the film in the mount?
