Nikon SB-15 on P67II...possible?

Is the SB-15 a dedicated flash with multiple contacts on the foot?

I seem to remember a post from a couple of years ago where

someone made their SB-24 work on the 67II, but some wiring

alterations had to be made. As to your SB-15, if it is dedicated

like the SB-24, I don't think it will work as it is, and unless you're

knowlegable about making the needed fix I think you will need to

find another solution. Bob

If you are asking if the SB-15 will work in any mode that needs to communicate with the camera, the answer is no. A flash manufactured by one camera company will not communicate with somebody elses camera.

Many flashes do have an "auto" mode though that requires no communication with the camera. It does provide some auto control from a built in sensor on the front of the flash. I don't know whether the SB-15 will do this though.

Question then becomes whether the SB-15 can even be used in this way with your Pentax because of the hotshoe configuration. If you had a camera that doesn't support TTL flash there wouldn't be a problem because the hotshoe on the camera would only have a center contact to trigger the flash. I'm sure the SB-15 has other contacts besides the center and if your Pentax does also there could be a problem, possibly damage, if the contacts line up and make a connection. The SB-15 and the Pentax were never made to work together and one could present incompatable voltages or information to the other.

In view of all this I would suggest, rather than using a Nikon flash, that you get a compatable flash for you camera.

If you use only the PC cord, dedicated conflicts will be avoided,

and it will work. But make sure the dedicated sync cord of the

P67II is disconnected from the handle unit. TTL function will be

lost, and exposures will have to be Automatic, via the SB-15's

remote sensor (if it has one), or calculated and set Manually.
