tim_anderson1
I am in the process of restoring several wooden 8x10 film holders, and I would ask followers of this forum What to use for replacing the light traps?
gary_meader
Tim- I repaired a couple a few months back and I used felt from the fabric store. I didn't do the slide end, but put new felt on all the other seams and they work fine. One bit of caution; if you use felt, don't use too much glue. When you press the felt into place, the liquid glue saturates the felt and when dry, it is way stiff and not what you'll want. I think I ended up using clear double-sided tape for an adhesive. Good luck.
john_kasaian1
Try black velvet(thick velvet- go to the fabric store and let your fingers do the guesswork) ribbon & woodworker's glue(spread out thin, evenly and sparingly!) The fabric backing of the ribbon should keep the glue from migrating through and messing up the nap. Also save any of those tiny little tacks if you can, so at least you can tack one end down. I don't know how neccesary that is, but I figure Graflex(who make them for Kodak) knew what they were doing. Good luck!
