I post this under EOS mount because there is no Sub for canon mirrorless yet. This is important if you own a Canon R5 or R6. There is a petition on change dot org and many (MANY) complaints on social media abut the hot shoe being loose after 6-10 months of use. If your camera is still under warranty then send it to Canon to fix it, immediately. Don't wait. This WILL happen, it will only be a matter of time. The repair out of warranty will cost 4-500 US dollars. There are DIY clever solutions (like this one on youtube

But will risk to void the warranty. Most likely is a combination of mistakes that Canon made assembling it. Missing glue of the screws holding the shoe (from the inside), and a wrong size of the holes in the shoe receiving the screws. That may result in a temporary fix if only a glue is applied to the screws . In other words without replacing the shoe part with the correct size of the holes then it may happen again in a year or so.

My advice is to send it to Canon while under warranty to fix it, and send it immediately. At least will buy you anther year of use without the flash falling off or misfiring.

Nice job on video and fixing something built by elves. That delicate work can be intimidating, especially those ribbon connectors and micro screws. You probably saved yourself a $400 repair from Canon fixing their assembly error. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers, Mark
