Mike Gammill
Greetings, all, and welcome to our new thread. Post all the images you like from any film camera. A number of years ago we decided to include all film cameras so feel free to include classic gear, modern film gear, or hybrid (modern body with classic lens, etc). Tech data if you have it as well as location. New images as well as older ones are both welcome. If you've been only viewing, posting in this thread is a good way to introduce yourself. I didn't get a new roll processed this week so I've got some older ones. The theme here is macro/close-up. This sums things up, sometimes. rick_drawbridge
A great selection, Chuck! Here are some from a Nikon F-601 using a 28-80mm Nikkor f/3.5-5-6D lens. mjferron
I had purchased a 180mm 4.5 for the Mamiya C330 but never did use it. Until today. I decided to take a few practice shots in the backyard using Foma 100 in W2D2+. Slow and cumbersome it is, especially handheld. The focus plane is razor thin at 5.6 which is where I had the aperture set. This shot of Buddy was the only real keeper out of 12.

Is it correspondingly heavier as well?
bruce_z._li2
A few shots "Into the dark" (kinda inspired by Akira Kurosawa's Rashomon), by the new to me Topcon RE Super with 58mm f/1.8 lens. chuck_foreman1
It is surprising to me how much bigger the Yashica looks next to the Contax. Is it correspondingly heavier as well? It is heavier but not much about 76grmas heavier. The dials of the Contax ar the height of the superstructure of the Yashica, but the lenghtg and width atr quite similar. Icould make some comparison phots... if you'd like. Myx Contax IIa is now even more inconsistent than ever especually since the last time I played with it! I think one of the curtains is failing intermittently. Before I thought it was on the high speed cam (from 200 upwards) somewhere, but now It rarely fires correctly at 25 ,50 or 100, when before these were relatively consistent. 😞
AJG
Thanks for the information about the Yashica--my first SLR was a Yashica TL Super back in the late 1960's, so I still retain a soft spot for the brand, but so far I have resisted getting back into buying Yashica gear since my Contax acquisitions have been costly. My condolences on your Contax--it sounds like time for an overhaul. My luck has been good with mine (a IIa and 2 IIIa, plus a II, III and a Kiev 4) but all except the II and the Kiev have been overhauled by Henry Scherer, so they should work! I do wind and click the ones that I don't have film in regularly to keep lubricants from hardening and that seems to help with keeping them working like they should. Mike Gammill
Bruce, the F76+ and Rodinal worked well with the Pan F+. Pan F+ can sometimes be a challenge, but you've found a good developing combination to tame it. Nice shots.
bruce_z._li2
Thank you Mike. For B&W developer, I like liquid concentrates for convenience and tend to stick with one for all my film. Usually I load up 2-3 rolls of different B&W film in one Patterson tank. Originally I was using Ilfotec DD-X 1+4, it was very good but a bit expensive especially considering I'm not shooting much T-grain film. Rodinal is good, but tend to be a bit grainy for higher ISO films. So F76+ seems to me a good general purpose developer: liquid concentrate, inexpensive (1+9 dilution), and works well with most film I use. Recently I added a dash of Rodinal to boost up a bit of resolution and sharpness, when processing ISO 50/100 films. I would like to try Adox FX-39 II that Rick D. uses, but it seems they are not yet available state wise.
SCL
Just got a replacement Yashica 35/1.9...inner lens was lightly etched around the edges, so after cleaning it as best as I could tested it out with some expired px-125, developed in Rodinal 1+50. I've found these cameras (when working) basically match my Leicas in sharpness and contrast. Test close range photo attached.
