northwest
Hello! Try to take pictures of same object with two cameras Nikon D780 and Nikon D750 (same lens and same cards) and what was surprise , file size on D780 like 12 mb and on D750 17 mb. Not sure it is problem but why? And sure, same settings on cameras. Edited May 15, 2023 by northwest
mike_halliwell
Odd, 'cos the D780 has a slightly bigger sensor. Different 'strength' of JPEG compression?
northwest
Do not know, there are little different settings, and checked all. Thank you!
ShunCheung
What exactly are those "same settings"? I don't have a D780, but I have a D750 and a Z6, whose back-lit sensor the D780 adopted. I shoot 14-bit, lossless-compressed RAW and the NEF file sizes are around 30MB, give or take. 12MB to 17MB seems to be too large for JPEG straight out of the camera. Are you (the OP) using lossy-compressed RAW? There could be different compression algorithms. And are both 12 bit or both 14 bit? A lot of settings can affect file size, even RAW, such as Active-D Lighting, high-ISO noise reduction, etc. I would prefer to compare uncompressed RAW, but that option is not available on the D750. It is on the Z6, though; not sure about the D780, however.
northwest
Thank you! In both setting, lossless compressed, in D750 quality priority (not size) , there is no such thing in D780, and did try only JPEG not RAW, have to check.
northwest
Did check in RAW, looks better, D750 file 29,7. in D780 file 29,1 , a little difference but shoot handheld. So looks like do not have to worry, thank you one more time for advise...
