joe_barbieri
Has anyone used one of the non T* SWCs or for that matter, any non T* lenses in general? I found a clean chrome SWC for a good price but all of my current lenses are CFs.
Thanks... Joe Barbieri
clive_bubley
I doubt that you, or any picture editor, will see any difference between them, on a pair of transparencies under a 10x loupe on a light box! If the SWC is clean, the lens unmarked and the price 'good', then run a film through it to put your mind at rest. Then buy it and enjoy using it! tsun_tam
Most of my lenses have non-T* coatings and they perform very well and with good contrast. I had only ONE instance with my 150 that gave me a contrast problem, but the lighting condition was such that it would probably give the T* lenses similar results.
I also have a Super Wide (not SWC) with a knob to advance the film. This is close to 45 years old and definitely does not have a T* coating on its elements. Fantastic lens . . . fantastic results . . . contrast IS NOT A PROBLEM!!
FYI: I have two 80mm F lenses and these have the T* coating and one 80mm C lens (non-T*.) I can't tell the differences between shots taken with any of my 80mm lenses.
jack_chase
Ansel Adams used the non-T* lenses extensively. Took pretty fair snapshots with them! ;>) Seems he used his hat as a sun-shade whenever he thought it necessary!
