g_richards
Pentax recently announced a replacement for the K70 which will be the KR. Also, Pentax plans to release several options of its K3iii body which will be a monochrome version, an astronomical version plus several other incarnations. Tony Parsons
Thanks for the info - looks interesting. I look forward to people posting images taken with the new kit. I understand there is a new 100mm macro around too.
John Seaman
It's good to hear that Pentax are still developing DSLR's with optical finders, unlike some rivals.

I just saw the CIPA* numbers for October 2022, and the future does not look too bright for conventional DSLRs - although not terrible either. Mirrorless (interchangeable lens) is up 130% in volume and 200% in value from last year. Fixed lens digital cameras show growth as well in both in volume and value (I am surprised). DSLR's are declining in volume and stagnating in value. It is obvious that Canon and Nikon are retracting from the DSLR market and possibly leaving room for others. If Pentax has the stamina, they may end up with the benefit of "last-man-standing". I certainly would hate to see this proud brand fold. On the current best seller list** of Interchangeable lens cameras in Japan, the highest ranking DSLR is Nikon D850 (at no. 26). Pentax first appearance is at no. 37 with the K3 Mark III. The next Pentax is the KF at no. 53. Pentax does not have a strong presence on that list. Nor does Panasonic or Olympus, neither of which are in the top 20. (The same list has Fujifilm X-T5, Nikon Z9 and Canon R7 as number 1, 2 and 3) * https://dc.watch.impress.co.jp **source: www.kakaku.com Dec. 2nd 2022 Edited December 2, 2022 by NHSN 1 Niels
g_richards
And, today I read where Pentax is exploring the possibility of making a new film camera. Wow. I know there are photographers out there still shooting film so this could be of interest to them. For me, I don't see myself going back to film anytime soon. Niels - NHSN
I didn’t see that coming, but I’m very excited: Niels
