chris_tennyson
Ok.. a bit of back ground... I have windows xp, photoshop 7.0 using adobe 1998 for the color space, and have a custom monitor profile created with a Spyder. Oh.. and a card reader as opposed to hooking the camera up to the comp for transfer... That said.. why is it that when I shoot my 10D in standard mode, the thumbnails and so forth all pop up, but if i swich it over to adobe, they wont.... on the computer that is.. now I can understand that since the comp isnt opperating in the same color space it might not be able to convert.. but the computer wont even let me copy the images off of my card reader and onto the hard drive.. The only way I can transfer is to shoot the images in standard.. or use the camera to convert them.. either way it defeats the purpose of it... Is the Adobe RGB function on the camera only to be used with a Mac platform? I believe the 1Ds has the same sort of color space choices.. Has anyone noticed this problem with theirs? It's going to get really tiresome if I have to convert every image I ever shoot with this camera when I open it in photoshop.
beauh44
Hi Chris - I'm told my 10D will arrive today, so I have no experience with it quite yet. >but if i swich it over to adobe, they wont.... on the computer that is I'm not sure if I'm understanding the question right, because XP will show thumbnails, natively in the OS, as well as PS7. Is it not showing up under XP, PS, or both? I've included a little blurb below from dpreview.com just in case it might shed any light. If my 10D shows up today, I'll give it a shot and let you know - I have XP too. I don't *think* using a Mac is relevent. From the dpreview bit below, it looks like you might have to convert as you open each image. But the colorspace theoretically shouldn't affect whether you can see the thumbnails or not. Best wishes! ...Beau "The EOS-10D now provides support for the Adobe RGB color space. This is accessed by selecting the parameter set 'Adobe RGB', once selected however it is not possible to make any individual parameter adjustments (such as tone, sharpness, contrast, saturation). Note that the color of the Adobe RGB will look dull on your sRGB monitor, you will need to load it into a color space smart application such as Adobe Photoshop and assign the 'Adobe RGB' profile." chris_tennyson
Thanx for the info Beau. I guess I should run some more tests and just see if its some fluke thing. It certainly sounds like it should show them.. and it didn't make any sense that i couldnt transfer them.. a jpg is a jpg.. doesnt matter what the color space is, it should still transfer....
