albert_martinez
Can a Supermatic Shutter (M and F settings only) be used with a modern strobes?? I understand that there's a delay built into the flash for older bulb type flashes, is there a way of bypassing it?? I'd really like to test drive this older 203 I inherited in the studio, any suggestion would once again be appreciated. Regards-Albert
dan_fromm2
If you don't cock the delay mechanism the Flash Supermatic gives 'X' class synchronization.
neal_shields
One of my older books, mentions that the early Flash Supermatics did not have X sinc but could be sent back to be upgraded for free. So it is a good bet that most out there will work with electronic flash. However, I had a friend, who was a professional photographer, and used bulbs until he died, which was well into the '70's. Let's hope you don't have one of his shutters. There is a great deal of information on this on the Graflex.org web site. However, if you point the flash at a wall, look through the camera and fire the flash you should know for sure. ( On the outside chance that there is someone in the world as dumb as I am: don't point the flash at the lens, and look through the lens, I still have spots before my eyes and that was about a year ago. Old strobonars are old but still have a 180 guide number.) Neal
