vic_.
Hi, I got this mint lens because portability is a huge benefit to me. I was wondering if the age of the lens construction has any features that are not in the current formulations. I've been to New York with rigid lenses, and wanted to throw each of them away after a day, their bulk is annoying. I mostly use the 50mm f2.8 Elmar (current), and to me its portability is one of the best things about this brand of camera. Thanks in advance. jfm
Hello Vic, While I cannot post any photos at the moment, let me say that this lens is outstanding in every way. It has high contrast, lovely details, bokeh, and incredible sense of depth. I have taken stunning portraits, outdoor photos etc. If you got a mint one, you will be amazed. best,jm
vic_.
Thanks for the opinion. I got it for $350, is that a good price? Triple mint glass, and not even a cleaning mark on either element. Got it from Per Kristiansen, of Toronto, Canada. www.perkristiansen.com Great man to deal with.
gerald_widen
You could try a search on e**y, most of the sellers post photo's
christopher_a._junker
No photos, but previous comments are right on. Be careful of the glass, as the coating abrades easily. I recommend that you make a point of using a hood. Very little additional bulk compared to a Elmar 2.8. I wouldn't use either lens on a CL as you would be hitting the meter arm. al_kaplan1
You'll get a little less contrast than with newer multi-coated versions, but gorgeous bokeh and the shadows seem more open. Getting a UV filter to protect that soft-coated front element might be worthwhile. The shade is a must, also.
rolfe_tessem
I second everything Al said. Here is an example shot with my M3, 50mm collapsible, Fuji Reala, probably at f11.<div></div>

rolfe_tessem
It looks fine in my color-managed Photoshop environment. When I used the Save to Web option to create the JPEG, it came out looking like this. I have no idea why.

wolfgang_gressmann
Rolfe: Great shot. What were you doing in Afghanistan, if I may ask?
rolfe_tessem
I was in Afghanistan last year producing a television special for Nickelodeon which ultimately won an Emmy for best children's program. It is a pretty amazing place -- the people were unbelievably gracious and helpful but the bureaucracy seemed to be cloned straight out of Stalinist Russia.
