ross_lipman
i recently acquired a Leica d Lux 5 with Box and case. I am now doing some background research, and realize it is a good camera within limitations. Many comparable cameras from the time period are now very cheap as used purchases. In some applications, their format could be more useful than a dslr- street photography, pocket storage when at an event, unobtrusive indoor ambient light photos etc. Just how good are these cameras ? I am not referring to little 3 or 4 inch aluminum rectangle cameras. Canon Powershot G, Leica d Lux and Panny equivalents etc. Thanks
John Farrell
I have a Powershot G12, which I use often. I appreciate having a camera with a viewfinder - I only use the rear screen for closeup shots. The 10megapixel sensor is amply large for the sort of photography I do.
luis triguez
I bought the Leica C (Type 112) because it has viewfinder. It is very difficult for me to see correctly on the screen on a sunny day. It also has diopter corrector.
dmanthree
They work fine, but the first thing I notice when looking at shots from older cams is the limited dynamic range on a few shots.
Greg M
Ming Thein, a pro photog in the Far East, has been reviewing Panasonic digicams for several years. One of his past articles is linked below. If you look at several of the images he captures with these little digicams he reviews, it becomes pretty evident where the main shortcoming is (more times the user rather than the camera) when it comes to capturing very nice images with this type equipment.....
