Leslie Reid Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 You are invited to upload one or more of your landscape photos and, if you’d like, to accompany your image with some commentary: challenges you faced in making the image? your intent for the image? settings? post-processing decisions? why you did what you did? the place and time? or an aspect you’d like feedback on? And please feel free to ask questions of others who have posted images or to join the discussion. If you don’t feel like using words, that’s OK too—unaccompanied images (or unaccompanied words, for that matter) are also very much welcomed. As for the technicalities, the usual forum guidelines apply: files < 1 MB; image size <1000 px maximum dimension. Glenn McCreery’s beautiful sunrise photo from two weeks ago [link] reminded me of how much I enjoy landscape images that have wide depth of field, and in which the foreground detail is a major player—usually accomplished with a wide-angle lens. Here’s my contribution to the genre (made using the 18 mm setting on a zoom). 5
Norma Desmond Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Here's one I made on a recent outing to San Francisco's Ocean Beach where I purposely used a fixed, non-wide-angle lens (50mm) just to see what it might lead to. As with Leslie's, I was very taken with the foreground textures and kept the depth of field relatively wide. 5 We didn't need dialogue. We had faces!
michaellinder Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Leslie and Fred, this image may not exactly fit with yours. I tried to find something with a good amount of detail and texture in the foreground; I shot this while hiking in the Phoenix, Arizona area. 4
Glenn McCreery Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Mud Lake, Idaho on a cloudy, but calm wind, day. The lake is a lot more scenic than it's unfortunate name implies. 3
scott_eaton5 Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Riding through a park in West Michigan on my Cannondale. Only thing I had was my Samsung Edge, but it worked. Minor tonal map and level adjustment 3
