eric_burgess
Help! I have been processing all my 4x5 film with a Jobo 2500 series drum (hand inversion) for about a year now with no trouble. This evening I got a strange streak on two negatives. At first I thought it was a light leak, but it is almost identical on negatives from two different holders. I was processing 4 at a time, and the other two negatives look fine. Any ideas? I have a lot more to process from this trip, and I am a little gun shy right now. david_hall6
Eric, I used to do 4x5 in those same tanks and every now and again would get the same problem. I always concluded it was from the film sticking to the holder in the tank, such that it either develops too much or does not agitate enough and develops too little, making either a light or dark streak along the long film edge. Do you use the little wingamabobs? I never did and wondered if that contributed. But I got the streaking so rarely, I never started using them just to see. Now, by the way, I use the Jobo expert drum and a Beseler motor. I gotta tell you...it makes a huge difference, doing 10 negatives at a time with alot less chemistry, and while the thing rotates I mix the stop and fix. It is a real time saver. And and not a streak yet. dgh
jennifer_waak
I'm with David. I use a Jobo drum (not expert) and the 2509N reels and throw the whole thing onto a Uniroller. Best thing since sliced bread. The Unirollers or Beseler's can be found for $30 or so if you are patient and shop around. I process 8 at a time and it's great. -Jen

eric_burgess
An update - I did call Jobo (excellent customer service, by the way), and really analyzed what I was doing. I had decided a few months ago to reduce the volume of chemicals to 1200mL. It looks like that may have caused the streaks (that's about where the line was). I have since raised it back to the recommended 1500mL, and haven't seen the mark since. I repost if it comes back! I do use the "wings" or whatever you call them. I don't know if they make a difference, but I have gotten used to putting them in. Thanks for all the help.
