gary green
@bruce_z._li2 Nice write-up, Bruce! The Franka's seem like the Toyota Corolla of the camera world. Simple, easy to use, inexpensive, well-built, and they get the job done.

bruce_z._li2
This is a new to me Topcon RE Super with the Topcor 58/1.8 lens. I really enjoy using it, both for the tactile feel, silky smooth operation, and the bright and snappy focusing screen.
SCL
I'm planning to use an old favorite, the Yashica 35. I've had several copies with uneconomical to repair problems, and got this one earlier this week which had a quirky shutter, some edge fungal etching on an inner lens element, and a weak rangefinder. Cleaned what I could, did a jerry rig to improve the rf patch, and ran a test roll of PX-125 this am. Sharp and contrasty negatives - just like I remember from years past.
Niels - NHSN
I will continue to use the two new-to-me lenses I acquired in Tokyo last week. A 50/1.2 and a 35/1.4 both AI-S. Film will be ProImage 100 and hoping for some dark and gloomy weather to get a few shots wide open. 6 Niels

bruce_z._li2
The Argus 40 with Varex 75/4.5 lens is becoming another of my favorite box camera, along with Agfa Isola with the Agnar 75/6.3 lens. They are compact, simple to use, and produce images well exceeding any expectation from these toy like cameras. Argus 40 is probably the "most advanced" in terms of box cameras, aperture control, several shutter speeds, and a film pressure plate. The only sin is that it uses 620 film. I wish its cousin Argus Super 75 can produce as good results: mine only have central portion of image sharp (probably due to lens alignment and/or film flatness issues).
Rick_van_Nooij
No plans for the weekend, but the weather promises to be nice. I'll guess I'll take my Kodak Signet 40 out for a spin. I've also got a roll in a Franka Solida III
Niels - NHSN
Repeating myself here, but the excitement is high. I continue familiarizing myself with my two Nikkor lens acquisitions from two weeks ago. Mostly the 50mm f1.2 this weekend I think and some Ilford Ortho, probably. 6 Niels
rick_drawbridge
It's the turn of a small favouite, a "dainty" Kodak Retina 1a, circa 1951-4. It's a nice little camera to handle, but if only it had a better viewfinder...

And that goes for most vintage cameras with top deck viewfinders. Especially for those of us who wear eyeglasses.
bruce_z._li2
I have the Retina I with Ektar 50/3.5, and really like it. It seems Ia changed the knob wind to lever wind. I guess we can all use an external viewfinder, but it does defeat the purpose of small and compact camera...
Rick_van_Nooij
Well, It appears the Kodak Signet 40's Synchro 400 shutter refused to cooperate properly after about 10 shots. So I've loaded the recovered film in a Clarus MS-
bruce_z._li2
My latest infatuation is with a French beauty, Semflex!
Niels - NHSN
Continuing in the same track as the previous weekends. Nikon F2 w. DP-1 and 35mm f/1.4 AI-S. Film is the now sadly discontinued Fuji C200. 4 Niels
Rick_van_Nooij
Loaded this Clarus with a roll rescued from the Signet 40 earlier. Haven't gotten around to shooting it. It's going to be around 30 degrees Celsius this weekend ...pfffff...
stuart_pratt
I've got some FP4 in my recently serviced Ikoflex 2a. I've just put a new mirror in in too, although the old one looked reasonable, the difference is obvious.
bruce_z._li2
I really like the ikoflex too, very much under appreciated. Nice bright screen compared to older Rolleicord, similar lens, and well built. I slightly prefer the later models where they have a shutter release at the lower right side for ergonomics reasons.
Niels - NHSN
I was gifted a DW-1 finder the other day. Not something that will see a lot of use i think, but I will give it a spin at the nearby botanical garden when the weekend arrives. I imagine the intended use-case for this finder is macro from a low position? Or maybe candid chest shoots with a wide angle? If you can't employ scale focus, then you certainly have to put your eye very close to focus accurately. Camera is a very early F2 from the first year of production. Lens it the classic Micro-Nikkor-P Auto 55mm f/3.5. Film will probably be color; Ektar 100 or ImagePro 100 if the sun is out, otherwise Ultramax 400. 3 Niels
Rick_van_Nooij
Still haven't filled up the roll in the Clarus, but I've loaded up 18 sheets of Fomapan 400 for the Speed Graphic this weekend.
bruce_z._li2
The other French beauty, Semflex Oto B. This the almost fully automatic model with combined film advance and shutter cocking via crank. And this lady is in grey, a bit like the baby Rolleiflex and Flexaret. Photos from this camera will be in the June 16th weekly.
Mike Gammill
Neils- another use for the DW-1 is when the camera is attached to a refracting telescope it allows comfortable right angle view even when the telescope is aimed at overhead objects.
rick_drawbridge
If we get some fine weather I'll give the old Miranda Sensorex some exercise. Edited June 17, 2023 by rick_drawbridge

Sounds brilliant. Have to find a refracting telescope to try it out then 😄 Niels
Mike Gammill
The DW-1 will also attach to the eyepiece holder of a Maksutov or Schmidt Cassegrain, although the dedicated T-adapter works better.
