Dennis Newman
Hi everyone, Looking for a good location for landscape photography during the first weekend in April. I live in Southern Arizona, so places in the Southwest are probably best. Thinking NV, UT, AZ, NM and SO CA. What I'm interested in are places that aren't as well-known and over-photographed as National Parks. Can you think of any good state parks, national monuments etc... that might be worth a visit? Any additional tips are also appreciated. Thanks, Dennis
Bill J Boyd
Early April is a good time to visit Big Bend National Park in Texas. Also a good time to see bluebonnets and other wild flowers in Texas Hill Country.
bob_flood1
The first week of April would be a good time for the Antelope Valley Poppy Preserve, a California State Park. It's near Lancaster, CA. The poppies go on for miles. You could then go a bit south to the valley edge along the San Bernadino Mountains. Lots of orchards along the road through that valley, and they should be in bloom.
praxis1
I also live in AZ - Phoenix area. I've been thinking of a trip that would include Death Valley, then up to Mono Lake, then up a little further to Bodie, a great ghost town. If you're in Southern AZ, have you checked out all the riparian areas in the Bisbee area? Great of the Sandhill Crane migration later in the year. charles_stobbs3
I spent a week in Santa Fe a few years ago and enjoyed it very much. Lots of good photo ops in town and within a day's trip. Taos is nearby and Monument Valley should be possible although I didn't make that trip. Use the good days for trvel and walk around Santa Fe other days.
