gerry297
When is Sony or Zeiss going to introduce an ultra wide prime that I can use with my A-700? My 20mm is not wide enough on the 700 and I don't have enough to pop for a 900 or 850. What are you waiting for Sony??
steve_c.5
Gerry, I do think Sigma has at some point made a 15 or 16mm prime that's not a fisheye. I know I've seen one and wanted it myself. I don't know what Sony has in the pipeline, but they are probably focusing (pun) on the full frame end of their line right now.

The new Tamron 10-24 is a great choice too, though not a prime. This thread has my experiences with it recently. Might be the best of both worlds for you in the meantime.
oleksandr_holovachov
There are three 14mm rectilinear wide angle lenses in Sony mount, a Tamron 14mm F/2.8, Sigma 14mm F/2.8 and Sigma 14mm F/3.5. The problem only - they are not very common.
robert_paul1
Of the three 14mm rectilinear lenses Oleksandr mentioned, only the Tamron is still being made. I have a Sigma 14mm f/2.8, and I love it.
ricardovaste
No use complaining, eh? Sony will produce when they can. In the meantime, there are more than enough options available for you. The suggestions here are good. Take a look at www.dyxum.com and browse the lens database - should give you a good idea of what is available.
dave_redmann
If you don't want a third party lens, there's IIRC the Minolta 16mm f/2.8.
fmueller
The Minolta 16mm f/2.8 is a fisheye lens. Excellent lens - I used the MC version for many years - but it's not rectilinear.
