paf iii
Is any one familiar with the Minolta FS-1100 adapter, is just a proprietary to conventional flash adapter or does it do anything to reduce voltage similar to a safe sync safe to be able to use a Vivitar 283 with a Sony Alpha 100. I have one and have not yet used it with my Alpha but i did use it alot with my 700si.I know I Should just get the Wein Safe Sync But thought I would ask. michael_hohner
The adapter contains no electronics. It was designed to adapt the old original Minolta AF flashes to the newer Minolta cameras. For any other use you're on your own. But if it worked with the 700si it will likely also work with the A100. Of course, you won't get TTL metering with this flash on the A100. theaudiodoc
Phil, You will find most answers to you Sony/Minolta system questions on Michael Hohner's site here's the link to the answer to your question: http://www.mhohner.de/sony-minolta/flashcomp_acc.php In short, no, this adapter allows the use of older Minolta AF Flashes with the newer type shoe. It won't adapt just any ISO flash shoe the Minolta AF type proprietary shoe. Kelly

mek_photography
However, it (and the cheap eBay versions) works perfectly for using a radio trigger with studio strobes. It does not have any protective circuitry, but most radio triggers (pocket wizards, alien bee, micro sinc) don't produce enough voltage to damage the hot shoe.
