new Sony section and articles

Folks:

After some months (years?) of neglect, it gives me great pleasure to announce

that we have finally begun to clean up the Sony section within photo.net's

articles.

http://photo.net/equipment/sony/

is the index/system page and has links to new reviews of the A100 and three

lenses (two mid-range zooms and the 35/1.4). All are commentable, so please

add your experience with the system and the specific items. If you notice

errors or want to argue with the author(s), just send me email

(philg@mit.edu). Remember that the comments are designed for alternative

perspectives, example images, etc.

Enjoy!

Philip

Photo.net has never had any kind of deliberate equipment bias.

The reason you've seen more Canon reviews than anything else in the past is that the people writing the reviews (which between about 2001 and 2005 was mostly me) owned Canon gear and were reviewing equipment that they had bought with their own money! Manufacturers like Minolta and Pentax just didn't think photo.net was important enough to provide with review samples of their products. We could only review what we were able to get our hands on.

That's now changed and we've still more than happy to review anything that any manufacturer is prepared to loan for review. Those manufacturers now include Canon, Nikon, Pentax and Sony, so you will be seeing a variety of reviews now that access to a wider range of equipment has become available.
