frank_p
My Dimage A1 produces a completely blurred, somewhat pinky image, both through the viewfinder and the LCD screen. Anybody familiar with this problem and how to solve? Thanks, Frank.
peterblaise
. Ouch! What do the pictures look like, or does it not even take one? Can you show us? Aside from resetting the camera - battery out overnight, new recharged battery, rotate feverishly to "clean" all knobs, clean (q-tips and alcohol) all contacts to make sure no moisture is shorting contacts (especially the flash foot) ... there's not much more you can do - it may be a return to Sony challenge since maybe the CCD sensor itself has tanked - a Sony recall? robert_paul1
Frank- Your problem looks like it could be caused by the defective sensors Sony produced. As I recall, you have until August 2007, to contact Sony (as K/M is out of the photo business) and have this taken care of at no charge. You should contact Sony and talk to their customer service people.

michelle_y_dent
9/10/07 - I gave a call to 1-877-462-4464 Digital Product Support. I spoke with a customer service rep. They were vevy helpful and nice she took all my info and told me that my A1 would be repaired under the recall. So if you have the problem still call it may not be to late they are very helpful. genecraft
The CCD in my A-1 went a month or two ago. Started showing horizontal lines in the LCD and downloaded pics. It would sometimes work, then went completely white. I just got it back from Sony. They replaced the CCD for free, paid for shipping, and even cleaned the outside. Excellent service. Took about 2 weeks total turn around. So, it seems that they didn't end the recall program in 2007. Good luck.
peterblaise
GREAT NEWS! It seems for $111 they'll rebuild 'em for non-CCD problems, and for free, they'll replace their own defective CCD - gotta love Sony - they must finally be getting the message that CUSTOMERS are the most expensive part of their market relationship, and therefore, you NEVER, EVER burn a customer! I LOVE MY Minolta DiMage A1 and can't imagine a real equivalent other than the A2 or A200. Good for you and good for Sony for keeping 'em alive!

charles_smith7
Want to thank all who wrote in about the "blurry, magenta" screen and pictures. Had the same problem and called Sony. The camera was 4 1/2 years old and Sony paid for shipping both ways and replaced the ccd for free. I sent out and received the camera back in perfect condition in about 8 days! Thanks again to this forum and SONY!!!
paul_chapman2
Sun shade or bright light shade helps, but does not stop it. The brighter part of the picture "flares" downward here on my (Repaired Dimage A1, the ccd).
I re-point the camera and hold my hand just out of shot to shade the main front lens. Perhaps a screw on filter may help, but is untried here as the filters fit the Sony α camera
